How to use this, in four steps
You are on step 1. Nothing is locked — browse everything first, then check the ones that look relevant.
See what you may be entitled to
Browse every verified benefit in your state. No questions, no account — everything is open.
Check whether you qualify
Open any benefit and answer a few questions about that one. We stop as soon as we know.
Get the letter that shows the finding
A VA Benefit Summary Letter configured to show service connection, the rating and permanence satisfies most offices without disclosing any diagnosis.
File before the deadline
The deadline for the homestead exemption is March 15. File OTC Form 998 with your county assessor.
Which of these sounds like you?
Pick one and we will narrow the list. You can change or clear it at any point.
Two things sharpen this a lot
Both optional. Your county decides where you file and what a property tax exemption is actually worth; your rating decides which thresholds you cross.
Where do you live?
We use this once to work out your county, because property tax is decided county by county. No benefit is ever matched on a ZIP code alone.
Your VA disability status
What does my rating actually unlock?
Read the record for the test that actually applies in Oklahoma — the homestead exemption turns on the 100% permanent certification, and the sales tax card uses the same letter.

Vehicle Excise Tax Off One Car Every Three Years — and the Clock Resets on a Write-Off
A veteran certified by the VA as receiving compensation AT THE 100% RATE for a permanent disability sustained through military action, accident or in-service disease pays no Oklahoma vehicle excise tax on ONE VEHICLE IN ANY CONSECUTIVE THREE-YEAR PERIOD. The exception worth knowing is that THE THREE-YEAR LIMIT IS WAIVED where you are replacing a vehicle the insurer has declared a total loss — so a write-off does not cost you the exemption for the rest of the cycle. Your name must be on the title, and Veterans Registry enrolment is used for verification.
VeteransApplies statewideFull vehicle excise tax exemption on one vehicle in three years
Read it and check if you qualifyMilitary Retirement Pay Is Now 100% Exempt — the Old Figures Are Wrong
From tax year 2022 Oklahoma exempts 100% of military retirement benefits from state income tax. THE PREVIOUS RULE WAS THE GREATER OF 75% OF BENEFITS OR $10,000, and that older figure is still circulating in guides, tax software prompts and advice written before the change. If a source tells you Oklahoma exempts 75%, it is out of date. There is no age test and no disability requirement — receiving U.S. Armed Forces retirement benefits as an Oklahoma resident is the whole qualification.
VeteransApplies statewide100% of military retirement benefits exempt from Oklahoma income tax
Read it and check if you qualifyPOW and MIA Tuition Waived — for the Veteran and for the Child
Oklahoma waives tuition in full — RESIDENT OR NONRESIDENT — at its state-supported institutions for a person declared a prisoner of war or missing in action by the Secretary of Defense, and for their child under 24. The residency test looks backwards: OKLAHOMA RESIDENCE ON ENTERING THE ARMED FORCES, or an official residence in Oklahoma. The nonresident half is what makes this unusual — most tuition waivers reduce you to the resident rate, and this one covers the nonresident rate too.
StudentsApplies statewideFull tuition waived — resident or nonresident — at state-supported institutions

VeteransApplies statewideVerified veteran status, and the indicator on a licence or ID card
Read it and check if you qualifyEnergy Assistance Has No Veteran Route — Apply on the Ordinary Criteria
