What this benefit is
At a 50% service-connected certification, Disabled American Veteran plates go on up to TWO vehicles — renewable at any Service Oklahoma location.
What it's worth: DAV plates on up to two vehicles — $6.50 picked up, $13.10 mailed
- The agency limits the discounted registration to two vehicles per veteran.
- The plate charge is $6.50 if picked up and $13.10 if mailed, at issue and at renewal alike; the motorcycle version is $13.10 to issue and $8.16 to renew.
- The registration itself runs at the disabled veteran rate of $5 plus applicable insurance and mailing fees — a separate charge from the plate.
Who is entitled to it
- You hold at least a 50% service-connected certification.

How to claim it
- 1Get the ODVA reduced licensing charge card — Form 599, also issued as the C599 card — or an ODVA letter issued for the purpose of registering your vehicle. That is the documentation the agency's plate catalogue names, and a VA rating letter alone is not it.
- 2Apply through Service Oklahoma or a tag agency at a 50% or greater disability rating.
- 3Put the plates on up to two vehicles — that is the agency's stated limit per veteran.
- 4Choose pickup over post if you can: the plate is $6.50 picked up against $13.10 mailed, at issue and at each renewal.
- 5Do not renew online. The agency states the discounted rate is not available for online renewals, so an online renewal charges the ordinary fee.
- 6If you are certified at the 100% rate, ask separately about the vehicle EXCISE tax exemption on purchase — a different, larger benefit that runs through the Veterans Registry.
