What this benefit is
No fee for the issuance or renewal of an Oklahoma driver licence for an honorably discharged veteran certified as receiving compensation at the one-hundred-percent rate for a permanent disability from military action, accident or in-service disease.
What it's worth: No fee to issue or renew the driver licence
- Service Oklahoma states that 100% disabled veterans are eligible to receive a Driver Licence, a Commercial Driver Licence, or a State ID at no cost.
- The commercial licence is included by name. It does not need to be asked about as an exception.
- The State ID route matters for a veteran who does not drive.
Who is entitled to it
- The waiver runs to the veteran.
- You were honorably discharged from active service.
- You hold the 100% permanent certification the provision asks for.
- Your home is in Oklahoma.

How to claim it
- 1Take the certification, not just the rating letter. The test is compensation at the one-hundred-percent rate for a PERMANENT disability, so the letter needs to show permanence.
- 2Take the DD Form 214 as well. The discharge test is separate from the disability test and both have to be met.
- 3Note that Oklahoma National Guard service is named in the provision alongside the regular branches — a Guard discharge is not automatically outside it.
- 4Ask about the identification card separately. The language read covers the driver licence; nothing was read about the state identification card.
- 5Do not confuse this with the veteran designator on the licence, which is a marking and is proved with different documents.
