How to claim it
- 1Confirm the two date-bound facts: the death was in the line of duty after 1 January 2000 (or after that date from a line-of-duty injury), in any branch of the U.S. Armed Forces.
- 2The person who died must have filed an individual or joint Oklahoma income tax return for the tax year BEFORE the year of death — a paperwork condition that decides eligibility and is easy to miss.
- 3Enrol in the Oklahoma State System of Higher Education before reaching age 21 — the scholarship then runs up to five years or completion of a bachelor's degree, whichever comes first.
