  • Amounts vary enormously by profession — from under $100 for some trades to well over $1,000 for medical and engineering licences.
  • Renewal fees are not covered.

Who is entitled to it

  • You are a veteran, service member, or military spouse.
  • Your military training or experience substantially meets the requirements for the licence.
  • You hold a current licence from another jurisdiction with substantially equivalent requirements.
  • You are applying for a Texas professional licence.
  • Your home is in Texas.

Exceptions

The waiver covers application and examination fees only. §55.009 expressly does not reach a renewal fee, and agencies apply that limit strictly. Tex. Occ. Code §55.009
