How to claim it

Worth knowingThe published eligibility list includes "compensated at less than 100% level or Nonservice Connected Disabled". No other state in this corpus opens its free disabled veteran plate that wide, and a veteran rated 30% has no reason to think they qualify.
Worth knowingTwo plates, not one, and the decals are free too. An unremarried surviving spouse receives the same benefits as the veteran.
Known gapGeorgia also runs §40-2-70 for veterans not qualifying as totally disabled, which we have not read. Where the two provisions meet, and whether one is better than the other for a partially disabled veteran, is unresolved.
Known gapThe two plates and the Revenue rule do not read the same. The Department of Revenue page says a disabled veteran may receive free plates "for up to two motorcycles or passenger cars for personal use", while the older Revenue rule in the administrative code still says the veteran "shall be limited to a single set" and treats the pair as the front and rear plate of one vehicle. Ask for the second plate on the Revenue page wording, and expect a county tag office working from the rule to say no.
