Not sure whether that describes you?

Answer a few questions about this benefit specifically — we only ask what this one actually depends on, and we stop as soon as we know.

The thing most people get wrong

The service area is not the City of Key West

Utility service territories exist in no Census product and follow no political boundary. The KEYS area is not the same as the city, and the Florida Keys Aqueduct Authority is not the same as Monroe County. We ask whether KEYS is your provider rather than inferring it from your address, because inferring it would be wrong often enough to matter.

Re-certify annually
Re-certify by March 31 every year or the discount stops.

Common mistakes that cost people this benefit

  • Missing the 31 March re-certification. The discount stops if you do.
  • Assuming you are in the service area because you live in the Keys.

Questions people ask

What happens if I use more than 2,000 kWh in a month?
Usage above the cap is billed at the standard rate. The credit applies up to the cap.
