This is one of the very few Florida benefits that accepts the VA Benefit Summary Letter, which you can download yourself from VA.gov in about two minutes. Several property appraisers, on the same underlying fact, want a VAFL 27-333 obtained by mailing paper to Bay Pines. Two Florida agencies, one veteran, incompatible proof requirements.

Common mistakes that cost people this benefit
- Believing every "DV" plate grants parking-fee immunity. It does not. §320.084(5) attaches that to a plate bearing the international accessibility symbol under §320.0842, and only for metered or timed spaces.
- Looking for Purple Heart or Ex-POW plates under §320.0845. Those are §320.089. §320.0845 is the Paralyzed Veterans of America plate, which is a paid membership plate.
- Forgetting the re-certification. It runs annually or biennially, and a false certification carries a $50 civil penalty.
