Who is entitled to it
- Servicemembers with 24 months or less until discharge.
- Veterans with 36 months or less SINCE discharge.
- Members of the Florida National Guard or reserves, with no time limit.
- And spouses, and unremarried surviving spouses, of any of the above.

The thing most people get wrong
It closes 36 months after discharge
§295.22(2)(d) defines the target market with a hard time window, and we have not seen a single summary of Florida veteran benefits that mentions it. A veteran discharged four years ago is outside the programme. If you are inside the window, the deadline is the most important thing about this record — check the date on your DD214 before you check anything else.

Common mistakes that cost people this benefit
- Expecting the $8,000 to come to you. The training grant under §295.22(4)(d) is capped at $8,000 per trainee but it is paid to the EMPLOYER, as a 50% reimbursement, after the business has already covered the whole cost.
- Assuming it stacks with the GI Bill. Grant funds may be used "only in the absence of available veteran-specific federally funded programs", so expect to be pointed at federal entitlement first.
- Missing the entrepreneur initiative and SkillBridge. They are separate offerings under the same programme and are easy to not be told about.
