How to claim it

  1. 1Take your VA health ID card showing "Service Connected" to the retail sales window at Marion Transit Center or University Area Transit Center. It must be done in person — there is no online route.

Worth knowingThe artifact is the eligibility rule here. HART does not ask what your rating is — it asks whether your VA health card carries the words "Service Connected". A veteran with a 10% rating and the marked card qualifies; a veteran with a 70% rating and no card does not, until they get one.
Worth knowingThere is no Hillsborough residency requirement. Someone living in Pasco or Polk who commutes into Tampa can hold the card.
Known gapHART's fare page states a one-time card cost of $3.00, while other HART material describes a first card as free. We publish the fare page figure and flag the discrepancy rather than pick the more flattering one. Either way it is a one-time few dollars against roughly $390 a year.
