What this benefit is
Undergraduate tuition waived at Arizona public universities and community colleges — for purple heart recipients rated 50% or more, and for the survivors of a line-of-duty death.
What it's worth: Undergraduate tuition waived, to the credits a bachelor’s degree requires
- The waiver covers tuition only. Books, course fees, parking and room and board are not waived.
- Community college study is capped at 64 credit hours; university study is capped at the credits the degree requires. We do not publish a dollar figure because tuition differs by institution and by year.

- You are the veteran.

- You have not remarried.
- You are the member's child.
- You are thirty or younger.
- The waiver is held at an Arizona public university or community college.

Answer a few questions about this benefit specifically — we only ask what this one actually depends on, and we stop as soon as we know.
How to claim it
- 1File the verification form with the Arizona Department of Veterans' Services. The university does not process or approve it, and going to the campus office first is the most common way this one stalls.
- 2For the purple heart route, make sure your evidence shows the citation AND a VA rating of 50% or more — the citation alone is not the test.
- 3For a survivor claim, ask specifically about the post-traumatic stress provision if the death was a suicide. It is in the statute and it is rarely mentioned.
