Filing early

In several states, filing before your VA letter arrives preserves your effective date — the claim is decided later but dated from when you filed.

Why it can matter

We have not verified whether Wisconsin preserves an effective date on an incomplete application. Because it can be worth a full year elsewhere, ask your Department of Revenue, with WDVA certification directly rather than assuming either way.
