  • Ordinary CDL fees are not addressed by the waiver.

  • You serve or served in the U.S. armed forces.
  • Your discharge was honorable.
  • You drove heavy vehicles in service.
  • Utah commercial licensing.

Deadline: Within 90 days of discharge
  1. 1If you are still serving and might drive commercially, get the DA348 or AF2293 NOW. That document plus the 90-day window is the whole benefit.
  2. 2Diary 90 days from your discharge date.
  3. 3Study for the written knowledge tests before you separate; they are not waived and they take time.
  4. 4Apply to the Driver License Division with the discharge papers and the certification.
  5. 5If the 90 days has passed, ask the Division whether any discretion exists rather than assuming it does not.
