  3. 3If the school has closed, the Department issues the diploma rather than the district, so that is not an obstacle.
  4. 4If the veteran has died, ask anyway — awards of this kind are commonly posthumous.
  5. 5If the service was Korea or Vietnam, this particular statute does not reach it; ask the Department whether anything else does.
