- Free applies where the veteran lost one or more limbs, lost the use of one or more limbs, or is certified 100% disabled.
- Between 60% and 99% the licence costs $1 rather than being free.
- Where the qualifying disability is certified permanent, the county treasurer issues a LIFETIME licence instead of an annual one.

- You served in the U.S. armed forces.
- Your disability was incurred in a war or armed conflict.
- Your rating opens at least the $1 licence.
- Your home is in Pennsylvania.

How to claim it
- 1Do not assume you are outside it at 70%. Between 60% and 99% the licence is one dollar.
- 2If your qualifying disability is permanent, bring documentation saying so and ask for the LIFETIME licence — it is a different issue from the annual one and you have to ask.
- 3Fishing is separate: 30 Pa.C.S. §2707 runs a reduced-fee resident licence for a service-connected veteran between 60% and 99%.

CorrectionThree tiers, not one. Pennsylvania is usually written up as giving free hunting licences to disabled veterans, which is true only at the top. At 60–99% the licence costs a dollar, and a veteran told "free for disabled veterans" often concludes they do not qualify at all.
Worth knowingThe lifetime licence is the part almost nobody claims. Where the qualifying disability is certified PERMANENT, §2706 directs the county treasurer to issue a lifetime hunting or furtaking licence — but it is issued on request, not automatically.
Worth knowingThe disability must have been incurred in a war or armed conflict. That is narrower than "service-connected" and it is the condition most likely to exclude an otherwise qualifying veteran.
