At a public institution the award is 77% of tuition and general fees for the 2025-26 academic year.
At a private non-profit or for-profit institution it is a flat $6,330 a year, paid as $3,165 a semester.
The award runs to a maximum of 10 semesters or 15 quarters.
It can be used at state institutions and at private non-profit institutions, which is broader than several comparable state programmes.

Your parent served during a qualifying period of war or conflict.
You are enrolled or applying.

How to claim it

1Check your parent's rating even if they are well below 100%. Sixty percent is the threshold, and this is the single most-missed fact about the programme.
2If your parent entered service from outside Ohio, expect a five-year Ohio residency test: one year before applying, plus four of any ten years in the state.

Worth knowingSixty percent is the finding. A veteran rated 60% or 70% is unlikely to think of their family as eligible for anything called a "war orphans" scholarship, and the name actively works against the programme reaching them.
