Operation Recognition — One Continuous Window From 1940 to 1975

Nevada issues a high school diploma to veterans whose schooling was interrupted by service between 16 SEPTEMBER 1940 AND 7 MAY 1975. Note what that is: one continuous window, not three separate wartime periods. Most states cut this into WWII, Korea and Vietnam blocks and leave gaps between them — a veteran who served in 1948 or in 1958 falls through those gaps elsewhere and does not fall through this one. Apply to the Nevada Department of Veterans Services.

What it's worth: A high school diploma issued by the state

  • The window is CONTINUOUS: 16 SEPTEMBER 1940 TO 7 MAY 1975.
  • That means peacetime service between the named wars is INSIDE it, which is not true in most states.
  • Application is to the Nevada Department of Veterans Services.
  • THE RESIDENCY TEST IS NOT ESTABLISHED from the sources reviewed.
  • No fee and no deadline are published.

Who is entitled to it

  • You are in one of the groups who can pursue this.
  • School was interrupted by service.
  • Nevada issues it.

Answer a few questions about this benefit specifically — we only ask what this one actually depends on, and we stop as soon as we know.

How to claim it

  1. 1Apply to NDVS with your discharge papers.
  2. 2If you were told elsewhere that your service fell between wars, check the dates against this window — it has no gaps.
  3. 3Ask NDVS about residency; the published material does not state a test.
  4. 4If the veteran has died, ask anyway. Awards of this kind are commonly made posthumously.
  5. 5Name the school you attended if you want it on the diploma.
