How to claim it
- 1Decide which designation you are asking for. "Veteran" and "Veteran 100% T&P" are separate designations under the same subdivision, and the second one advertises the rating as well as the service.
- 2Bring a CERTIFIED copy of your discharge papers confirming an honorable or general under honorable conditions status — the subdivision says certified, not a photocopy.
- 3Three cards work instead of the papers: a military retiree identification card, a veteran identification card, or a veteran health identification card.
- 4A retired or honorably discharged member of the National Guard or a reserve component is expressly inside the subdivision alongside a veteran as defined in Minn. Stat. 197.447.
- 5For the 100% T&P designation, bring satisfactory evidence of a 100 percent total and permanent service-connected disability as determined by the federal veterans department.
- 6Expect to pay. The subdivision opens with "on payment of the required fee" and applies to issue, renewal and reissue alike.
- 7The proof requirements apply at the time of the INITIAL application for the designation, so a later renewal should not need the papers again.
