How to claim it

Deadline: With the application — the 15-day clock starts only when it is complete
  1. 1Submit a COMPLETE application. The 15-day clock runs from the date a complete application was submitted, and "complete" is defined to include all required forms, fees, documentation and a signed affidavit confirming the application and your prior employment history are accurate.
  2. 2If you are the spouse of an active duty member, do not pay anything: the statute exempts you from all fees assessed by any licensing body, including application, renewal, licensing, registration and background report fees.
  3. 3A "military servicemember" here includes a former member with an honorable discharge — so a veteran gets the 15-day timeline long after separation.
  4. 4If you come in on the alternative route rather than ordinary endorsement or reciprocity, the credential is probationary for up to six months and then becomes non-probationary. It is a real licence during that period.
  5. 5The licensing body may revoke at any time if information in the application turns out to be false — which is why the affidavit is there.

CorrectionThe fee exemption and the fast timeline are two different benefits with two different populations. The 15-day decision reaches servicemembers, veterans with an honorable discharge, and spouses. The blanket fee exemption reaches only spouses of ACTIVE duty members — a veteran claiming it will be charged.
Worth knowingThe same section lets a licensing body grant temporary emergency licences during a declared state of emergency, to applicants it judges sufficiently qualified to protect public health and safety. That is a separate route from the military one and is not limited to military applicants.
