How to claim it

1Match your speciality to the equivalency before you enrol in anything. Hospital corpsman or medical service specialist training counts as full equivalency toward certified nurse aide, and toward emergency medical responder — you sit the skills check-off and the written competency exam and skip the course.
2Army medic training exempts you from the classroom instruction for EMT-Basic; the skills and written exams remain.
3A serving Guard member with a current CPR card can be certified as an emergency medical responder without testing — ask about that route specifically if it applies to you.
4For municipal police and firefighter posts, count your months: 24 months of active duty (or 180 days of combat) waives an associate degree requirement, and 36 months (or 180 days of combat) waives a bachelor's degree requirement.
5For state police and conservation police, the educational requirement is waived outright for an honorably discharged veteran holding the named campaign medals — ask the hiring agency which medals it recognises.
6For a state-licensed profession, contact the financial and professional regulation department's military liaison. An active-duty member, or someone whose active duty ended within the preceding two years, and their spouses, get an initial application review completed within thirty days of the department holding every required document.
7For a commercial driver licence, ask about the Even Exchange and Skills Waiver routes based on your military occupational speciality and driving record.

CorrectionThe thirty-day expedited review is a transition benefit, not a veteran benefit. It reaches an active-duty member, a member whose active duty ended within the preceding two years, and their spouses. A veteran ten years out of service is outside it — but the military training equivalences above have no such window.

Worth knowingThe degree waivers for municipal police and fire are the least known item here and often the most valuable. They remove a requirement that otherwise costs two to four years and tuition, and they turn on months served rather than on any disability or campaign.

Known gapThe military licensing law itself could not be read: the legislature's statute server refused connections throughout this session. The equivalences and the thirty-day clock here come from the two administering agencies' own pages. No licence fee waiver was found on either — ask the board directly rather than assuming one.
