How to claim it

1Apply for the Idaho licence that is equivalent to the active licence you hold elsewhere, and mark your military, veteran or spouse status on the application — the division expedites only if it is indicated there.
2Expect three requirements alongside the application: the Idaho portion of the licence examination, a fingerprint-based background check, and proof of both your status and your current unrestricted licence elsewhere.
3Disclose every current, pending or subsequent disciplinary proceeding in any other jurisdiction or military branch. Failure to disclose is itself grounds for action on the licence.
4If you served, ask about credit for military training relevant to the licence — the division states that is among the benefits available.
5If you are currently serving, claim the fee exemption instead: while actively engaged in military service, and for six months after discharge, no fee applies to applying for licensure or certification and the licence need not be renewed.
6If active duty caused a licence to lapse or expire, contact the division on return. Reinstatement then carries no renewal fee, no continuing education requirement and no renewal application.

Worth knowingTwo different benefits get run together constantly. The endorsement fee exemption is for anyone qualifying — servicemember, veteran or spouse — and covers the initial application fee. The broader fee exemption, and the freedom from renewing at all, belongs to someone actively engaged in military service and runs six months past discharge.
