The following individuals are eligible for various forms of TRICARE:

Uniformed Service members, which includes active duty and retired members of the

• U.S. Army
• U.S. Air Force
• U.S. Navy
• U.S. Marine Corps
• U.S. Coast Guard
• Commissioned Corps of the U.S. Public Health Service
• Commissioned Corps of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Association
• Their families

National Guard/Reserve members, which includes members of the

• Army National Guard
• Army Reserve
• Navy Reserve
• Marine Corps Reserve
• Air National Guard
• Air Force Reserve
• U.S. Coast Guard Reserve
• Their families

Survivors

• Former spouses (not remarried and not covered by private insurance)
• Medal of Honor recipients and their families
• Others registered in the Defense Enrollment Eligibility Reporting System (DEERS)

For coverage purposes, a family member must be a

• Spouse
• Unremarried widow or widower
• Unmarried child under 21 years of age (including adopted children and stepchildren)
• Unmarried child over 21 and under 23 years of age who is a full-time student
• Unmarried child over 23 and under 26 years of age who is a still a dependent
• Dependent parent or parent-in-law
