Should the government cancel production of the F-35 fighter?

“Initially, the F-35 was proposed as a stealth fighter jet and was considered a valuable addition to the U.S Military, serving the Air Force, Marine Corps, and Navy. Production of F-35 will be the most expensive military weapons program in world history, at around US$1.5 trillion before the fighter is retired in 2070.
Opponents of the program argue that F-35 is no longer an effective weapon and has not lived up to its expectations. Proponents claim that the fighter is essential for the U.S. military to maintain its advantage over foreign enemies.
What do you think? Should the government cancel production of the F-35 fighter?

No. I think production should not be stopped, due to losing air superiority.

Need to get bugs worked out and cut cost. The company who has the contract should be held accountable and should fix and work out the bugs for free. They should be forced to get it right or find someone who will.
We need to stay ahead and in front of our enemies and those who become our enemies.

We should continue mfg the f35 first off the governments other than out allies are beefing up their military. Second if we have planes like the f35 than in the long run we will need less men on the ground. I completed my 30 year obligation with the military we got to keep the upper hand. Last thing in the past60 + years the military has had their hands tied because civilians say what they can defend or how far the military can take things, like in Korea, Vietnam etc. don’t call it a police action, either declare war or shut the hell up. Patton, and Douglas McArthur both said the same thing. We are still dealing with those same issue 60 years later. which makes us need theseF35 even more.

We must keep a technological edge over our adversaries, yet the price tag on the F-35 is insane! Cut the price at least in half, maintain the tech. advantages while developing more.

The Gov needs to execute contracts with countries like turkey generating profit for the program.
