What are VA Apprenticeship Programs?

VA apprenticeship programs allow veterans to use their GI Bill benefits while participating in registered apprenticeships. These programs combine paid on-the-job training with classroom instruction, providing a pathway to skilled careers in high-demand fields. You earn a paycheck from your employer while also receiving monthly education benefits from the VA.

Eligibility Requirements

Application Process

Step-by-Step Process:

  1. Apply and get accepted into a VA-approved apprenticeship program
  2. Apply for VA education benefits if you haven't already (VA Form 22-1990)
  3. Submit a Request for Change of Program (VA Form 22-1995) to use benefits for apprenticeship
  4. Provide the VA with your apprenticeship agreement and training schedule
