What is Wins For Warriors?
Wins for Warriors was established in 2016 to focus on family-bonding activities and collaborating with other organizations to empower military veterans.
In addition to donating $1 million directly to worthy veteran charities since 2013, MLB All-Star pitcher Justin Verlander has invited 5,000 veteran families to watch games from his suite since 2011. The Wins for Warriors foundation also organizes many events and programs to empower and motivate veterans.
WFW Military and Veteran Family Disaster Relief Support
After Hurricane Harvey, we created a grantmaking program for military and veteran families impacted by the natural disaster; as many families as possible are receiving assistance because we received hundreds of applications. Families, especially those who serve our country selflessly, do not deserve these unpredictable storms’ hardships.
Events and Activities
A significant part of Wins for Warriors Foundation’s mission is to organize family-friendly events and activities supporting military members and veterans. With the help of community partners and sponsors, we now plan to host several tent-pole events. We hope to continue expanding with the support of strategic community partners and sponsors.
Grand Slam Adoption Event
In preparation for an MLB spring training game that will take place in Florida, the grand slam adoption event will be hosted by Kate Upton and Justice Verlander. The purpose of this event is to promote dog adoption and illustrate the healing powers of animal-human bonds, particularly those between veterans and their service animals.
Patriot Ruck
The Patriot Ruck took place on Sept. 9, 2017, in downtown Detroit. There is no better way to honor all the military members, veterans, and first responders who have served and sacrificed after 9/11.
Armed Services Salute
Many things happened in Downtown Detroit in honor of Veterans Day, such as the official veterans day parade, the four stars, the four-mile race and the vets’ fest in Hart Plaza. In addition to honoring Veterans of Foreign Wars, this event is intended to create a fun, family-friendly atmosphere while showcasing veterans service organizations.
1,000 Christmas Salutes
We create world-class celebrations at The War Memorial during the holidays to thank military and veteran families for their service and help them celebrate the holidays with family and friends. A holiday concert is presented along with holiday food, drinks and fun activities for the whole family, including the chance to meet Santa Claus and take pictures with him.
Veteran Resource Center
There will be a veteran concierge program with world-class customer service and resources that can assist in navigating through the more than 40,000 organizations that exist to help veterans.
They are in the process of developing a plan and partnering with other organizations to create a long-term support system for veterans that will consist of an online resource and a call center.
