It looks like the 2024 presidential campaign will be headed by two of the same aging men who ran in the general election last time: President Biden and former President Donald J. Trump – four years after a historically large number of candidates ran for president. While some Republicans are expected to run, most are taking their time directly challenging Mr. Trump, who still holds sway with their party’s base. As long as the incumbent appears likely to run, Democrats are almost universally unwilling to challenge him.
