The parent company of Instagram and Facebook, Meta, stated that it has discovered and eliminated the first targeted Chinese campaigns to interfere with the coming US Presidential elections.

Though the Chinese attempts appeared to be limited in scope as compared to Russian attempts, the campaigns involved several fake posts on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter, posted the profile pictures using men in formal attire with female names.

The posts were related to gun promotion, abortion opposition and President Biden’s criticism.

However, the operation appeared to lack much scope and used clumsy language that failed to attract more followers.
