Temporary work visas are given to highly skilled workers like foreign scientists, engineers, programmers, etc. Most businesses insist on hiring skilled foreign workers as it allows them to fill positions which are in high demand competitively. Opponents say that skilled immigrants disadvantage American workers and corporations use work visas as a mechanism of cost-cutting.
What are your thoughts? Should the US increase or decrease the number of temporary work visas given to high-skilled immigrant workers?
