Border Patrol personnel has risen considerably in the past few decades. Border fencing has also increased.
Proponents demand this for national interest and blame immigrants sneaking in for terrorism, drug trafficking and random acts of violence.
Opponents consider most illegal entrants as Mexicans seeking temporary work, posing no threat to national security.
