Should the government pass laws which protect whistleblowers?

“Whistleblower protection laws and regulations guarantee freedom of speech for workers and contractors in certain situations. Edward Snowden, a former CIA employee, released evidence against the misuse of Patriot Act. Snowden faced charges under the espionage act and was refused a pardon.
Proponents of whistleblower laws believe it is needed to maintain transparency in government institutions. Opponents argue that whistleblowers can often create damage due to their recklessness and should not be given immunity of any sort.

    Absolutely. Constitutional right. This is one means to maintain leverage for the people, against the abuses of a government.
