“President Donald Trump made a campaign promise of allowing Medicare to negotiate drug prices directly with pharmaceutical companies. After acquiring Presidency, he withdrew from his pledge.
Proponents believe that the federal government should be allowed to negotiate prices with pharmaceutical companies as it can save up to $16 billion a year. Opponents argue that the government should not interfere with rates set by private drug makers who use profits for the research and development of breakthrough drugs.

    Make cost affordable efficient for the goverment and to the consumer as priority.
