Should the electoral college be abolished?

“The United States Electoral College is a group of electors authorized by the United States Constitution, created every four years for the sole intent of choosing the president and vice president of the United States.
During the 2016 presidential election, Donald Trump lost the general election to Hillary Clinton by over 2.8 million votes, however, won the Electoral College by 74 votes.
Those in favor of electoral college insist that it guarantees certainty to the outcome of the presidential election. Opponents argue that Electoral College ignores the will of the people.
