05 Jan Should the current estate tax rate be decreased?
“The estate tax is the tax levied upon the property declared in the will of a dead person. As of now, a tax is only paid for the estates valued greater than $5.45 million at the rate of 40%. Opponents of this tax, including Trump, believe that a person shouldn’t be paying tax even after death. Proponents think that more estates should be paying taxes and the threshold of $5.45 million should be reduced to $3.5 million.
What do you think about it? Should the current estate tax rate be decreased?

Posted at 15:52h, 01 NovemberNo….the Estate tax rate absolutely should not be decreased. As a matter of fact there should not be an estate tax at all. The government did not earn that money, so why should they get it? Hard working people earned that money, so they should be able to pass it down to whomever they will. Estate tax is just a quasi legalized way for the government to “STEAL YOUR MONEY AND YOUR PROPERTY”. For Example: A family farm, which is worth 10 million dollars may have to be sold, because the person inheriting the farm may not be able to pay the 4 million dollar tax bill. This makes no sense at all.
