Should Government care for people who can’t care for themselves?

“The primary objective of any democratic government is to secure the well being of its citizens. This might demand aiding the poor, providing healthcare to the needy, giving benefits to the unemployed and the elderly.
Proponents believe that the government is obligated to its citizens and hence needs to take every possible action to guarantee the betterment of its people. Opponents consider this as a theoretical approach which can lead to an unstable economy.
