Should foreign lobbyists be allowed to raise money for American elections?

“Currently, federal election law forbids political candidates from intentionally soliciting, or receiving funding from foreign entities under any circumstances. However, foreign nationals or entities can appoint lobbyists to meet with or donate directly to politicians to influence them to vote positively for any international interest.
Those in favor state that at times it’s very difficult to trace the source of a fund and till the time politicians are not accepting money from foreign sources knowingly, they should not be held accountable.
Opponents argue that these donations prioritize the private interests of corporate clients over the interests of the general public and can lead to electoral interventions.
