Should a photo ID be required to vote?

“Currently, 34 states have laws that require voters to show some form of identification in order to vote. Voters without a valid state ID can apply for no fee ID cards before elections.
Proponents state that voting is a responsible act and an ID is necessary to prevent electoral fraud. Opponents argue this creates difficulties for senior citizens who do not have an identification proof and the poor who do not have the resources to apply for an ID.
What do you think? Should a photo ID be required to vote?

Today is the day. Now is the moment. Vote for change.

They are easy to get so why the fuss? sounds like a red herring argument designed to allow folks not eligible to vote the ability to vote..

They are probably referring to not accepting expired IDs. As the leader of an organization that cares for the elderly and the poor, the elderly often do not get around as easily as they use to. Many no longer drive, which we should be thankful ; ) and some are bedridden or riddled with other health issues. Our healthcare system seems to float back and forth on the quality of their care depending on the administration in office. You’d be surprised how often the family does not pick up the slack to be sure that family members have what they need even when it involves the entire community, we live in dark times. While I believe a photo ID should be required, I also believe the gov should also offer a program to help disabled or “abandoned” voters get to the polls with what they need. It’s important to remember that the elderly paved the way for us to get where we are today, and being homeless does not change a person’s moral standards or principles; everyone has a story, and every American citizen over the age of 18, has the right to vote.

Straw man argument for elderly and poor who do not have an ID. You show me one elderly or poor person that does not have an ID and will show you 99 who do!
