21 Sep National Suicide Prevention Annual Report 2022 provides the most comprehensive data on Veteran suicide mortality.
The VA’s latest annual report shows encouraging downward trends in Veteran suicide counts and rates, but it still needs to do more to prevent suicide. While the report documents positive progress, it also acknowledges that more work is required to reduce Veteran suicide further.
Therefore, VA takes an integrated Department-wide approach to Veteran suicide prevention that incorporates strategic planning, program implementation, and evaluation across VA, including the Veterans Health Administration, Veterans Benefits Administration and National Cemetery Administration.
Along with the National Veteran Suicide Prevention Annual Report for 2022, VA also released data sheets on state-level findings—such as how many Veterans have committed suicide, how many have committed suicide by age group, how many have committed suicide by the method of suicide, and comparisons between state data and regional and national data.
Do you think US Government should take more measures to prevent the suicide of Veterans? What are your thoughts on this?
