“Under the Patriot Act, NSA is authorized to accumulate phone metadata — the numbers, time stamps, and duration of a call, but not its actual content. Corporations like Google and Facebook have vast databases of our daily activities, but it can only be shared with the Federal government if summoned by a court order. Similarly, there are various measures in place to ensure the privacy of citizens who are not indulged in any illegal activity. However, claims of monitoring and surveillance cannot be denied entirely.
