12 Jan Booker, Christie, Murphy, who is the right choice for president?
New Jerseyans are divided on whether Gov. Phil Murphy will run for president in 2024. However, most voters believe he needs to be qualified if he decides to run.
Two former New Jersey politicians ran for the White House in the past – former Gov. Chris Christie and U.S. Sen. Cory Booker.
Among New Jersey adults surveyed by Monmouth University on Wednesday, four out of ten New Jersey adults believe Murphy will run for president at some point. According to the Democratic governor, he has no plans to run for president, but he hedged when asked if he would run if President Joe Biden did not seek reelection.
How about Christie?
In a phone survey of 809 New Jersey adults, Murray said, “most New Jerseyans seem to think his disappointing 2016 campaign should have sufficed.” The poll was conducted from Jan. 5-9 and was within 4.7 percentage points.
Despite being asked repeatedly about running for president, Murphy has said he expects Biden to run again and will support his reelection.
