Biden Pardons Drug Offenders- Is This The Right Thing To Do?

Six people were pardoned by President Joe Biden on Friday, including one who failed to pay a distilled spirits tax, one who was convicted of narcotics offenses, and one who shot their abusive husband while she was pregnant.

None of the six are behind bars, but the presidential pardons give them a chance to begin the new year with a spotless record. All six have since served in the military or their communities.

In a statement outlining the pardons, a White House representative said that President Biden “believes Americans deserve second chances, and that offering meaningful opportunities for redemption and rehabilitation empowers those imprisoned to become productive, law-abiding members of society.”
