Wreaths Across America Partners with Local Purple Heart Chapter

The Aaron A. Weaver Chapter 776 Military Order of the Purple Heart (MOPH) announces its new program, in partnership with Wreaths Across America (WAA). This program will allow a Citrus County business to sponsor wreaths that will be placed on veterans’ graves at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell on Dec. 17.

Wreaths Across America honors veterans for their selfless sacrifice, by placing Wreaths of Honor on the graves in National Cemeteries every December on Wreaths Across America Day, as well as Arlington National Cemetery, and at more than 2,500 additional locations in all 50 U.S. states and abroad. These wreaths are hand-tied American balsam and made in Columbia Falls, Maine.

In our case, a volunteer will place the wreath on the marker of a fallen hero at the Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell. That volunteer will then say out loud the veteran’s name and thank them for their service to ensure that the legacy of duty, service and sacrifice of that veteran is never forgotten.

There are different sponsor levels for wreath donations. The wreaths are $15 each. For your donation, you will receive a Certificate of Appreciation from MOPH Chapter 776 and a photo will be taken for submission to the Chronicle.
