Veterans United Nextdoor Team to Help Veterans Achieve Homeownership Goals

On Nov. 11, Nextdoor, the neighborhood network, announced a partnership with Veterans United Home Loans, the nation's largest Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) purchase lender, to support military communities across the country by helping them attain VA home loans.

Both companies are launching local Proud Veteran Homeowner Nextdoor Groups in communities across the country to help connect veterans and military families.

Historically, veterans have shown a solid commitment to their communities, going above and beyond to build stronger, more connected neighborhoods. VA data shows that 32% of veterans work in public service or charitable organizations, compared to 22% of non-veterans.

On ThanksToVeterans.com, some of the stories of these incredible Veterans will be featured, including:

A Navy veteran from Matthews, N.C., who put together food care packages for neighbors in need during the COVID-19 pandemic;
Regina, a veteran and widowed mother of three who volunteers at her local school and has an open-door policy for neighborhood kids;
Jim, a Vietnam War Veteran in Deming, N.M., who donates food to local tribes and serves as a mentor and role model for his teenage grandson; and
Michael, a Marine in Fresno, Calif., served two tours in Iraq and now teaches self-defense classes at his local dojo, often to children who have been bullied or women who wish to protect themselves.

Veterans United helps veterans become homeowners and are excited to partner with Nextdoor, a company that aims to ensure neighbors have a supportive community, said Nate Johnson, chief retention officer for Veterans United. In announcing the partnership, we show our gratitude to veterans who are often the cornerstones of the neighborhoods they live in, he added.

The new relationship is meant to create meaningful ways of connecting veterans, online and offline.

According to Heidi Andersen, chief revenue Officer at Nextdoor, Nextdoor's vision is to create a world where neighbors can count on each other.

"Our company is proud to partner with Veterans United on this Veterans Day and support the meaningful work done towards giving back to the veterans and the country," Andersen said.
