Veterans Legacy Memorial Contract Awarded to Government CIO

A new contract, referred to as VLM-Next Generation (VLM-NG), will see the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) memorialization program move forward to the next phase for honoring our nation's veterans. The Veterans Legacy Memorial (VLM) is supported by GovernmentCIO (GovCIO).

GovCIO served as the prime contractor on VLM-NG, which will establish the next iteration of the VLM product, which GovCIO has supported since it was introduced in 2019.

VLM keeps the memory of veterans alive thanks to its publicly available website, http://vlm.cem.va.gov/. Those interred and inurned at VA national cemeteries as well as tribal, state, and territory cemeteries funded by the VA comprise a virtual memorial for more than 4.3 million veterans.

Kristin Gill, president, Government CIO Veterans Sector, said, "We are proud to work with the Department of Veterans Affairs to continue support on this great program dedicated to ensuring the legacies of our nation's veterans alive."

Using VLM, survivors and family members can digitally grieve and memorialize their veterans. Researchers will be able to share historical and educational information on the cemeteries and veterans.

Jim Brabston, CEO of GovCIO, expressed his pleasure to continue to invest in creating an interactive platform which honors veterans' lives and memories.
