Penfed Credit Union Named Best Employer For Vets

It's the third year in a row that the nation's second-biggest credit union, Penfed, has been named a "Best for Vets" employer of 2021.

Penfed offers banking services, auto loans, home loans, credit cards and personal loans to military families.

Almost 200 companies were evaluated using the editorially-independent rankings to reach out to former service members, spouses and caregivers and provide them with the appropriate working conditions to support their success.

“As our team of over 3,200 financial professionals continues its growth, we intend to hire more veterans and spouses of military personnel,” said James Schenck, Penfed CEO and Penfed Foundation CEO.

Serving veterans and military spouses bring many leadership skills, experience and passion to the workplace, which we value as employees, Schenck said.

In support of the military community, PenFed carries out a comprehensive Military Employment Program that supports every phase of the employment process for veterans, military members and survivors, wounded warriors and their caregivers, as well as reservists and National Guardsmen.

To enhance military employment efforts, PenFed works with dozens of military employment organizations and the installation Transition Assistance Program and spends 10% of its recruitment budget hiring and retaining veterans.

PenFed's Military Recruiting page is a great place to start if you are looking for a career with a company with a reputation for service to military personnel.

Using a Military Occupational Specialty code, members of the military community can search for jobs based on their skill sets and experience through the website.

The company is well known for its support of the military and donates 2% of its net income each year to charitable organizations, most of which support military charities.

The PenFed Credit Union established its charitable entity, the PenFed Foundation, in 2001.

Since then, the foundation has contributed support to thousands of veterans, active service members and family members.
