15 Apr Should the military fly drones over foreign countries to gain intelligence and kill suspected terrorists?
“Combat drones are unmanned aerial vehicles which carries aircraft ordnance and surveillance equipment.
Drone war critics describe it as depersonalized slaughter, done with collateral costs unknown. Those studying non-combatant deaths on the ground in the Middle East claim one in five strikes kills civilians – a toll 31 times higher than military estimates. Such allegations have fuelled public outrage and protests globally, prominently in Muslim countries.
Those in favor claim that drone warfare has crippled the ability of al-Qaida and other groups to conduct international terrorism. They believe drones are an effective medium to gather intelligence and have helped reduce casualties of U.S soldiers.
