Health Care and Rehabilitation for Homeless Veterans

Health Care and Rehabilitation for Homeless Veterans

Homeless veterans will not be turned away from the VA when they need the VA’s help the most.  The VA provides comprehensive health care to homeless veterans and makes enrollment in homeless veterans programs as easy as possible. In addition to health and dental care, the VA provides case management and transitional assistance to homeless veterans, as well as to veterans recently released from incarceration.

Health Care for Homeless Veterans (HCHV) provides outreach-based treatment to homeless veterans and aims to be the necessary first step toward full rehabilitation and reintegration into society.

Domiciliary Care for Homeless Veterans (DCHV) allows homeless veterans to live in a residential setting while receiving treatment and has been a part of the VA services for over a century.

Health Care for Re-entry Veterans (HCRV) focuses on the specific needs of veterans re-entering society after a period of incarceration and begins the case management process while veterans are still incarcerated to ensure that no veteran is released from prison without a safety net of VA services to assist them.
