Should gay couples have the same adoption rights as straight couples?

Currently, adoption by same-sex couples is legal in all 50 states.

Opponents often debate that children raised by same-sex parents perform worse in life when compared to those raised in a heterosexual family.

American Civil Liberties Union in their overview of Lesbian and Gay Parenting, Adoption and Foster Care suggested home environments with lesbian and gay parents are as likely to successfully support a child’s development as those with heterosexual parents.
