“President Trump’s travel ban indefinitely suspends the issuance of immigrant and nonimmigrant visas to applicants from the Muslim-majority countries Libya, Iran, Somalia, Syria, and Yemen. There is a provision of giving waivers, however many people have been denied waivers without knowing what information they needed to apply, suggesting the process is “cursory, nonexistent, not left to consular discretion, or so limiting that it can be considered nonexistent.”
Proponents welcome this measure as it is likely to reduce terrorists flying into the United States. Opponents believe that this ban is targeting Muslim nationals and is racist in nature.
