The monthly premiums vary from veteran to veteran and hugely depend upon the factors like the service type of your sponsor and the number of people covered under the plan. Cost shares, on the other hand, are based on your sponsor’s pay and location.

Here’s an overview of monthly premiums and cost shares.

Premiums

A premium is a “pay ahead” program, meaning coverage programs that require you to pay the cost in advance. If you fail to pay the monthly premium, you won’t be able to redeem your TRICARE dental and insurance benefits for a year.

The cost of the premium for an active duty member can range from $11.65-$30.28. In the case of a selected reserve, your premium could range from $11.65-$87.36. As stated above, it can differ according to the number of applicants covered under a program and service type.

Cost Share

Cost shares are your out-of-pocket expenses for certain services. It depends on factors like your sponsor’s pay and location. Make sure to check your cost shares before using your TRICARE dental and insurance benefits.
