Finally, Veterans Will Get Stimulus Checks Automatically

Finally, some good news coming our way. The Treasury Department and the IRS have announced that Veterans and their family members will automatically get coronavirus stimulus checks from the federal government without further action needed from them.

Initially, many suspected that as many as 2 million veterans would miss out on the one-time federal payments.

It was among the latest snafus for the $290 billion program, which was created as part of the $2.2 trillion Coronavirus relief package enacted last month.

Americans generally are required to file a tax return in order to receive their money, which the IRS began issuing over the past several days. The IRS uses that information to determine the eligibility for and the size of the payments, which can total up to $1,200 per individual and $2,400 per married couple.

See if you’re eligible for a $0 Down VA Home Loan.

However, there are many veterans and their survivors who solely rely on government benefits, such as disability payments from Veterans Affairs. They do not typically have to submit a tax return.

The IRS and Treasury are waiving the filing requirement. Veterans and their beneficiaries who receive Compensation and Pension benefit payments will get the stimulus payments automatically and without additional paperwork, according to Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin.

“Economic Impact Payments will be issued automatically to our Veterans and their families who did not file tax returns for 2018 or 2019,” Mnuchin said in an announcement on Friday.

“The Treasury, IRS, and [U.S. Department of Veteran Affairs] are working hard to ensure our nation’s heroes receive these payments quickly and without any additional action or paperwork,” he said.

I haven’t received the third stimulus check yet. When will it come? It’s a shame that the veterans receive there stimulus checks last when we were first to defend our country.

I’m a disabled veteran. I have only received the 1st stimulus payment. Everytime I log into the IRS website to check on my payment status, I get a different response. We are supposed to be eligible. I’ve even gotten the response “claim on your income tax return”. We don’t file.

All lies as always. The VA has cheated me out of my health and quality of life by not giving me proper healthcare. Instead of knee replacements ( they Believe I had needed) the gave me Narcotics and got me hooked on them. Lied about me missing appointments they Nevered schedule or Notified me of. So they could denied me of my proper benefit rate. I’ve been homeless for over 20 years since my last dealing with them fighting drug addiction living off $280 20% service connected disability rate. That’s two bad knees and a Back thats not worth crap now because of them. Now no “stimulus check” as well. This is BS.

I came on this site to see if there was any information that was going to be helpful about stimulus payments. This whole thing is turning into a joke. I get a small VA check and a small Soc. check ( because I had to retire at 62 thanks to 2008 recession ) . I have daughter and granddaughter who are both handicapped on SSI , have fallowed all the rules and no answers . I’ve talked to others who have gotten money and some don’t need it.
